Galileo strikes full content deal with Iberia
A new full content agreement with Iberia has been forged by Galileo.
All the Spanish carrier’s published fares and inventory, including web fares, will continue to be made available to users of the GDS worldwide under the deal.
EMEA supplier services vice-president Matthew Hall said: “We are pleased to achieve a full content agreement with Iberia and ensure a level playing field, both in Spain and worldwide, for our leisure and business travel agency customers.
“This agreement further illustrates our ability to work with our airline partners to reach a situation that is mutually beneficial for both parties and offers great value to our travel agents”
José Arribas, vice-president, commercial logistics for Iberia, added: “Galileo is a well established GDS and has a very strong presence worldwide – this agreement provides us with invaluable access to their travel agency network.”
Meanwhile, Air India, Saudi Arabian Airlines, and Air Yemenia have become the latest airlines to implement e-ticketing via Galileo.
The additions mean that the GDS has 168 active e-ticket participants in 92 countries. . Galileo claims three out of every four tickets issued are now electronic.
Galileo vice-president Middle East and Africa, Turkey, Pakistan and Sri Lanka Rabih Saab said: “Despite the fact that the IATA target to become e-ticket compliant has been extended to 31 May 2008, airlines still need to plan now in order to be prepared for the deadline.
“Now that we can provide e-tickets for Saudi Arabian Airlines, Air India and Air Yemenia via our GDS, we have activated virtually all carriers from the list of Top 100 ticket volume producers. We expect to announce further activations very shortly.”
