Genting Hong Kong has officially announced the handover of the first ever custom built luxury cruise liner for the Asian market.
The Genting Dream was delivered to Genting’s new luxury line Dream Cruises at the Meyer Werft yard in Germany and will make its way east for its homeport in Guangzhou, China.
It begins sailing scheduled cruises from the Nanshan port in Guangzhou from November 13, 2016 and will first visit India, Singapore, Vietnam and Hong Kong during its journey to China.
More than 70% of the ship’s 2,000-strong crew will speak Chinese and is looking to attract an ’emerging generation of confident, independently-minded and affluent Asian travellers.’
The ship features a water park, spas, kids’ clubs, casino, dozens of restaurants and retail outlets.
The new line’s second ship, named World Dream, will launch in late 2017.
