German car-rental giant eyes the U.S. market
Sixt AG today opened its first-ever franchised car-rental location in the U.S., at Tampa International Airport in Florida.
The largest car-rental company in Germany and Austria, Sixt said it is actively seeking growth-oriented franchisees in a push to expand into the U.S. and Canada.
Craig Olson, vice president of North America Franchise Development for Sixt Franchise USA, LLC, said the company already has signed more franchisees for the program, including one in Las Vegas.
"We are thrilled to have our first U.S. franchise location open for business just a few short months after the official launch of our U.S. sales effort," Olson said.
Sixt has more than 80 master franchisees operating from roughly 1,000 worldwide locations, the company said. In the U.S., it operates seven corporate locations, in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Orlando, Atlanta, Phoenix, and Seattle.
