Gill’s Cruise Centre assets are sold
The assets of Gill’s Cruise Centre have been bought by We Cruise, a newly-created division of P&P Associates group.
P&P is the provider of VIBE software, the Wefly website, Chelsea Travel Management and is the facilitators of the ASDA travel online presence.
Gill’s Cruise Centre stopped trading last week following 55 years in business.
In a statement, P&P said: “After 55 years of trading this is a difficult time for the Gill family and their close-knit team of employees.
“The company has been a victim of over-rapid expansion in recent years, with management structures and technology struggling to keep pace with growth; there has been a major restructuring in recent months in an effort to reduce overheads.
“The company would like to thank their loyal customers for their support over the years.”
Earlier today, ABTA assured customers that any holiday booked through Gill’s is fully financially protected and the cruise companies providing these holidays will honour all paid-for travel arrangements, as normal.
P&P CEO Phil Cook said: “This is a great opportunity for us to incorporate Gill’s long-established cruise business into our travel group.
“Gill’s fine reputation for excellent service, its knowledgeable staff and its loyal customer base will be enhanced by our cutting edge technological back-up and the broader opportunities offered by our organisation.”
P&P claimed customers will be able to enjoy the “back-up of cutting edge travel industry technology and access to market-leading travel benefits that will enhance the product offering, allowing newly established ‘We Cruise’ to provide a truly great value service”.
Earlier this month, Travelport VP strategic corporate development Julian Mills left to join P&P Associates.
Mills has taken up the position of chief operating officer for the group, reporting into Cook.
