Global Travel Group scoops web award.
Global Travel Group has won the Opportunity Wales e-commerce award at the 11th annual Achievement Wales Business Awards 2004.
The awards recognise businesses that have shown demonstrable development for the Welsh economy.
The agency group was selected as the best example of a business which has innovatively used e-commerce to have a measurable impact in enhancing business performance.
Global Travel Group was nominated for its Global Travel Web technology which claims to give members the ability to go head to head with some of the largest e-commerce players in the travel industry and provide a quick route to market.
The group’s main objectives for the production of Global Travel Web was to provide an affordable solution where members benefit from an “unlimited” choice of online holidays, flights, accommodation, holiday extras and ancillary add-ons.
The group’s dynamic packaging engine will be added at no cost to members early next year, a spokesman said
Agents can choose from differing models and templates, manually input offers or have deals updated automatically from a central database. The system offers additional consumer features such as destination guides, weather and Foreign Office advice.
Product development director Jason Edwards said: “We know how critical e-commerce is to our business and are merely taking the initiative and equipping our members in advance.
“We have purposely made our Global Travel Web initiative affordable by part funding it, in order to attract as many members as possible. The solution now places the group head and shoulders above the competition and is a great incentive for other agencies to join us.”
