Go roaming – without the sting in the bill
MELBOURNE – A new phone service called RoamingSIM claims Australian consumers will be able to make savings of up to $7 a minute when making calls from overseas.
Retail travel agents can make 30 percent commissions on sales of the service.
Launched by Melbourne company Roaming Solutions, the system uses local telephone numbers so that family and friends can call those traveling overseas on their mobile without incurring a per minute charge on their telephone landline.
As the recipient of the call, the person overseas also benefits from reduced in-coming call charges, the company says, with users able to save as much as 80 percent on their mobile phone costs.
Travellers can add up to 50 local country landline numbers to one Sim from a choice of 52 countries around the world.
Roaming SIM also allows international contacts to call a local number to reach you wherever you are in the world.
The Starter Pack costs from $49.95, which includes the SIM card and $10 credit or $99.95 with $60 credit.
Roaming Solutions director, Jonathan Hume says that the new system helps ease one area of skyrocketing costs – mobile phone roaming bills.
RoamingSIM will be available to travel agents at www.roamingsolutions.com.au or by calling 1300 702 748 for an information pack.
