Indian budget carrier GoAir has announced the appointment of a new chief operating officer.
GoAir has secured the services of US national Jyri Strandman, who was vice president for flight operations at leading ultra-low cost carrier Spirit Airlines.
As COO Strandman will be responsible for the airline’s flight operations, all airport and security operations, flight safety and inflight services.
Before Spirit Airlines, Strandman worked at Virgin America and American Eagle Airlines in management and training roles during a three decade long career in aviation.
"India is one of the fastest growing aviation markets in the world and it is indeed a great feeling to be part of the GoAir team. I look forward to the many challenges that come with this ever burgeoning market and expanding operations of the airline," Strandman said.
Strandman arrives just days after GoAir CEO Wolfgang Prock-Schauer stepped down and moved to rival IndiGo as new COO.
