Grand Bahama Island to host first religious tourism summit

Thursday, 26 Sep, 2012 0

Grand Bahama Island will host its first Religious Tourism Summit on Monday, October 1.

The Ministry of Tourism on the Island cited the $18 billion global religious tourism market and the need to find new creative tourism niches in a cold economic climate as the reasons for holding the conference now.  They also said the island’s strong Christian history and traditions would be a draw for religious travelers.

The summit is helmed by Pastor Eddie Victor, chairman of Celebrate Freeport along with the Ministry of Tourism, the Grand Bahama Port Authority and the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce.
