Greek air strike called off

Greek flights are expected to operate as scheduled this week after air traffic controllers suspended a five-day strike that was planned to start today.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office said it expected all domestic and international flights in Greece to operate as normal after the country’s civil aviation workers union OSYPA called off industrial action.
OSYPA had expressed concern development planned would put their jobs under threat, but agreed to suspend the strike after getting government assurances their futures were safe.
However, Italian air traffic controllers plan further action this Thursday following a four-hour walk-out last Friday.
Lobby group Airlines for Europe has called on the European Commission and European governments to step in to ‘protect the rights of millions of European travellers’ from strike action.
