Guests could get booted from Carnival Cruise Line for smoking violation
Carnival Cruise Line has tightened up its shipboard smoking policy which could lead to sneaky smokers being booted from a cruise.
In addition to a new $500 fine for smoking in a stateroom or on the balcony, a violation may result in all cabin occupants being disembarked.
If that happens, passengers are ‘responsible for all financial charges and expenses to return home, and no refund of their unused cruise fare will be provided’ the line said in its updated policy.
The policy tales effect from December 1.
Currently guests caught violating the smoking policy are charged a hefty cleaning fee.
Smoking is permitted only in designated outdoor deck areas and special smoking areas of the casino or night club.
The policy applies to all types of smoking including traditional cigarettes, cigars, pipes and vaping.
Cruise lines follow federal law concerning marijuana use which is banned entirely on ships, including for medical use.
