Sin City could be about to get its first nonstop flights to mainland China.
Hainan Airlines has filed an application for direct service from Beijing to Las Vegas McCarran International Airport with an expected start date of December 2.
Hainan plans to begin flying three flights a week using 213-seat Boeing 787 Dreamliner jets.
It will initially operate Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
"With the expansion of tourist activity between China and Las Vegas, Hainan is proud to provide the very first nonstop service to this exciting market. Hainan’s award-winning service complement the dynamism and vibrancy of Las Vegas. This is a further reflection of our long-term commitment to our customers in China and the U.S," said Hou Wei, vice president of Hainan.
It has been welcomed as a boon for the local economy.
Rossi Ralenkotter, president and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority predicts a $33.5 million boost in annual economic impact as a direct result of the flights.
