Hajj pilgrims from Britain injured in coach crash

Tuesday, 29 September 20153 min read

Muslims from Lancashire, on a Hajj pilgrimage with Blackburn-based Sadaat Travel, have been injured in a coach crash.

The coach collided with a lorry on its way to Medina and the Saudi coach driver was killed.

The passengers, from East Lancashire, suffered cuts and bruises.

A small number of passengers were taken to hospital.

Last Thursday, 769 pilgrims were killed in a stampede as pilgrims converged at a junction in Mina, near Mecca, to take part in the Hajj’s last major rite.

Earlier this month, 109 people died when a crane collapsed at the Grand Mosque during preparations for the event.
