Halsbury Travel buys sports operator
Halsbury Travel has announced the acquisition of sports tour operator Tours 4 Sport.
The Nottingham based school tour operator, which has been organising trips and tours for schools since 1986, said it had been looking for an opportunity to capitalise on the growing sports tours market.
Managing director, Keith Sharkey said: "We’ve seen the popularity of the sports tours industry grow year on year.
"Whilst we have organised dozens of highly successful sports tours each year we wanted to bring in a group of experienced sports travel experts to ensure that Halsbury can offer the best sports tour options to schools and clubs in the UK, Europe and Worldwide."
Tours 4 Sport was established in 2005 by sports-mad graduates Daniel Smith and Sam Jennings after a chance meeting on a year abroad in France.
Since then the company has grown to become one of the UK’s leading sports tour operators for clubs, schools and universities, offering sports tours with friendly fixtures, tournaments, training camps and sports development tours.
Daniel Smith, co-founder of Tours 4 Sport, said: "The synergy between Halsbury and Tours 4 Sport is obvious; both are rapidly growing companies in niche markets with huge growth potential over the next few years alone."
