Hard Rock International is expanding the Asia footprint of its hotel brand with a new development coming to Malaysia.
The 365-room Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast is being developed in collaboration with Themed Attractions Resorts & Hotels Sdn Bhd, a tourism group backed by Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund Khazanah.
"With more than 25 million arrivals last year, Malaysia is recognised as one of the leading destinations in Asia where Hard Rock has a strong following and brand recognition. We are confident we will continue to build upon the phenomenal success of the Hard Rock Hotel Penang with this unique property," said Leong Wy Joon, senior vice president of hotel development in Asia and India.
Desaru Coast is an upscale integrated resort area in Johor State featuring the Desaru Coast Adventure Water Park, waterfront shopping, a conference centre and two championship golf courses.
The hotel is slated to open in late 2017.
"The Hard Rock Hotel Desaru Coast will complement the premium integrated destination resort’s offerings and lively atmosphere, while bringing a unique flavour and brand experience," said Muhammad Zainal Ashikin Rejab, chief executive officer for Destination Resorts.
