Hard Rock International is expanding its presence to the Maldives.

The company will add the Hard Rock Hotel Maldives and Hard Rock Cafe Maldives to its ever-expanding portfolio, slated for an October 2018 opening.

It is made possible thanks to a partnership with Thai developer Singha Estate Public.

The hotel will have 178 rooms, suites and overwater villas alongside the 185-seat Hard Rock Cafe Maldives.

Bothe will be part of phase 1 of the Emboodhoo Lagoon project, which will be the first fully integrated resort destination in the Maldives.

The integrated resort will eventually boast three hotels.

Emboodhoo is just a 20 minute speedboat ride from the airport.

"Traditionally regarded as being a popular honeymoon destination, we at Hard Rock are excited to work with the Singha Estate team to captivate multi-generational travellers, showcasing that the destination can cater to more than just newlyweds," said Todd Hricko, head of global hotel development for Hard Rock International.

It will feature all the usual signature Hard Rock amenities including a Rock Spa, Roxity Kids Club and The Sound of Your Stay music programming.

Hard Rock International has a busy pipeline of hotel and hotel casino projects worldwide including Dalian and Haikou in China.
