Hollywood A-lister and qualified pilot Harrison Ford has escaped disciplinary action by federal officials over a recent aviation mishap.
The Federal Aviation Administration said ‘no administrative or enforcement action was warranted’ after concluding its investigation.
In February Ford, 74, mistakenly flew his single-engine private plane just above an American Airlines commercial passenger jet and then landed on a taxiway instead of the runway at John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana.
In an air traffic control audio recording an apologetic Ford can be clearly heard saying: "I’m the schmuck that landed on the taxiway."
Although no action will be taken, Ford agreed to voluntarily undergo ‘airman counseling’ the actor’s lawyer said.
Lawyer Stephen Hofer said in a statement: "Mr Ford retains his pilot’s certificate without restriction."
Ford was thanked by the FAA for his ‘cooperative attitude during the investigation," Hofer said.
The actor was flying solo when he landed on the taxiway.
The American jet he flew over was carrying 116 passengers and crew and had just been cleared for takeoff.
