Hotels are doing so well in Hawaii the state is on track to its second-best year ever.

Hospitality Advisors LLC says Hawaii hotels this year should cross the 14 million room-night sales level. The record was set in 2000 when they topped 15 million room nights.

Hotels across the board are seeing an upswing in traffic. For example:

  • Luxury, up 12%.
  • Upscale, up 15%.
  • Mid-price, up 9%.
  • Economy, up 10&.
  • Budget, up 9%.

Hawaii hotel occupancy for the first nine months has been 79.2%, second only to New York at 80%. San Diego came in third with 74.3%, followed by Long Beach at 73%.

During September, occupancy was almost 75%, compared to 70% a year ago.
