Hawaiian Airlines has jumped on the bandwagon, joining rivals in hiking checked bag fees.
The new fee increases have taken effect for new bookings which sees $5 rises to $30 for the first checked bag and $40 for the second on flights between North America and Hawaii.
The new prices do not affect interisland or international routes outside North America such as to Japan, Australasia, South Korea and the Pacific.
Hawaiian joins JetBlue, Delta, United and Alaska Airlines, which have all hiked fees in the past few weeks.
Southwest Airlines is the only carrier still steadfastly offering two free checked bags and has consistently said it doesn’t plan to change that policy.
