Hawaiian Airlines has unveiled a new interior configuration for its Airbus A330 jets which includes premium lie-flat seating.
The new seating will begin rolling out from mid-2016.
The carrier will fit 18 lie-flat seats on each plane which recline to 180 degrees, along with an additional 28 ‘extra comfort’ premium economy seats.
"It’s clear that premium customers are looking for a life experience so that they can get some rest, and at the same time, we wanted to make sure the cabin was kind of uniquely ours, uniquely meeting the needs of the types of people who are coming to Hawaii for vacation," said CEO Mark Dunkerley.
The lie-flat seats, designed by Italian company Optimares, fold flat to 76 inches and come with enhanced in-flight entertainment featuring a next generation large-format tablet.
"We have created a truly bespoke design that delivers world-class comfort and style, while staying true to our island roots. We’re creating an environment of tranquility and comfort in the air," Dunkerley added.
Hawaiian said the roll out of the new interiors across the A330 fleet will be completed by 2017.
