Hilton is pushing ahead with plans to open about 30 new hotels in the UK over the next two years, despite Brexit.

The hotel chain, which is majority owned by US private equity firm Blackstone, will open new hotels in London and other cities, including York and Leeds.

In an interview with the Telegraph, Hilton’s Europe president Simon Vincent said its 138-strong chain in the UK had performed exceptionally well since sterling’s slide following the result of the EU referendum.

Hilton’s most recent opening in the UK was at Stansted Airport. Confirming plans to open a further 30 by the end of 2019, a spokesman added: "We look forward to welcoming hotels including Hilton Garden Inn Manchester Emirates Old Trafford later this summer, as well as Lincoln Plaza, Curio Collection by Hilton later this year."
