Historic World War Two fort opens as hotel

Boutique hotel Fort Canning has opened in Singapore.

Once used as a base for the British Far East Command during World War II, architects of the 86-room property have kept many of its colonial features.

New facilities include a THANN Sanctuary spa, the brand’s first venture outside of its Bangkok home, two full-sized swimming pools filled with mineral water, and extensive function facilities.

The ‘Battle Box’ World War II bunker where General Percival surrendered Singapore to the Japanese on February 15, 1942 is offered as a pre-event/function venue.

Hotel Fort Canning is a five-minute walk from Orchard Road.
