Chinese corporation HNA Group is one of two major players reportedly weighing up a bid to take control of hospitality group Carlson Rezidor.
Bloomberg reports a potential deal could be worth up to $2 billion and a buyer may be selected by the middle of this year, according to unnamed sources.
The other interested party is French hotel group Accor, the report says.
Accor recently agreed to buy out FRHI, the owner of the Fairmont, Raffles and Swissotel hotel brands for $2.9 billion.
HNA Group has numerous interests in hospitality and travel, ranging from airlines, airports and aviation ground handling services.
HNA is a majority shareholder of Spain’s NH Hotel Group and last year agreed to take a sizeable investment in Brazilian airline Azul.
Minneapolis based Carlson Rezidor operates multiple brands in more than 100 countries including Radisson, Country Inns & Suites and Park Plaza Hotels.
