Holland America Line is putting the spotlight on longer Caribbean vacations for its 2027-28 winter season, offering more extended sailings than any other cruise line in the region.
Running from October 2027 through March 2028, the program features 47 departures across 29 itineraries, visiting 35 ports in 25 countries and territories throughout the Eastern, Western and Southern Caribbean, as well as the Panama Canal.
The cruise line continues to cater to travelers looking for everything from short escapes to immersive regional voyages, with nearly every itinerary including a visit to RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, its private island in the Bahamas.
“We’ve built this season to give guests more ways to experience the Caribbean, whether they are looking for a quick getaway or a longer journey that explores more of the region,” said Paul Grigsby, vice president of deployment and revenue planning at Holland America Line.
“With more Caribbean itineraries of nine days or longer than any other cruise line, guests have more time to explore each destination and relax at our private island while enjoying our signature onboard experiences.“
Reimagined Oosterdam joins the fleet
A major highlight of the season is the debut of the newly transformed Oosterdam, the first ship to emerge from Holland America’s fleet-wide Evolution investment program.
Beginning in December 2027, the ship will sail Southern Caribbean and Panama Canal itineraries featuring redesigned accommodations and new public spaces.
Among the additions are Solo Verandah staterooms with private balconies and dedicated workspaces, Bridgeview Suites with panoramic ocean views, and Vista Suites, which will make their debut aboard the vessel.
The refurbishment also introduces the Grand Dutch Café, an all-day dining venue celebrating the cruise line’s Dutch heritage.
More destination-focused experiences
The cruise line continues to emphasize immersive destination experiences both ashore and onboard.
Guests can choose shore excursions developed with The HISTORY Channel, alongside locally focused “Meet the Makers” tours designed to connect travelers with artisans, food producers and local communities.
Regional flavors also take center stage through Destination Dining menus and Holland America’s Global Fresh Fish Program, while onboard entertainment includes live music and adults-only relaxation areas overlooking the ocean.
Half Moon Cay enhancements
RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay remains a centerpiece of nearly every Caribbean sailing and will welcome several new amenities during the season.
A new beach club will offer priority tendering, waiter service, upgraded seating and exclusive food and beverage options. Other additions include a refreshed Lobster Shack, island-exclusive menu items, Aperol Spritz tricycles, Bacardi beach buggies, expanded cabanas and villas, additional retail outlets, upgraded beach facilities and new activities such as pickleball.
Guests can also choose from shore excursions including kayaking, snorkeling with stingrays and horseback riding along the beach.
Holiday cruises and a Pan Am anniversary voyage
Holland America will operate eight holiday cruises over Christmas and New Year’s.
Among them is a seven-day Eastern Caribbean Holiday cruise aboard Rotterdam, departing Fort Lauderdale on December 22, 2027, with calls at Grand Turk, RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay, St. Thomas and an overnight visit to San Juan.
The reimagined Oosterdam will also sail an 11-day Southern Caribbean holiday voyage featuring Grand Cayman, Cartagena and overnight stays in Aruba and Curaçao.
Ships will be decorated for the holidays with festive dining, seasonal entertainment and international holiday traditions.
The season’s standout sailing is the 28-Day Pan Am 100th Anniversary Legendary Voyage aboard Zuiderdam, departing Miami on October 30, 2027.
Created in partnership with Pan Am, the cruise retraces many of the airline’s historic Clipper flying boat routes through the Caribbean and Latin America.
The voyage visits 19 ports across 13 countries, including Nassau, San Juan, Willemstad, Cartagena and Colón, with multiple consecutive port days allowing guests to spend more time exploring destinations.
The broader Caribbean deployment includes five- and six-day getaways, classic seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruises, Southern Caribbean voyages of up to 11 days, Western Caribbean sailings, Panama Canal Discovery cruises and 12-day Eastern Caribbean itineraries.
Guests booking eligible 2027-28 Caribbean sailings with Holland America’s Have It All package receive shore excursions, specialty dining, a Signature Beverage Package and Wi-Fi as part of the fare.
