Holland America Line launches mobile app
Holland America Line is expanding its desktop Navigator guest tool into a standalone app.
Optimized for cellphones and tablets, the navigator app offers enhanced functionality that can be used onboard for Android and iOS users.
Navigator allows guests to plan their day onboard by viewing restaurant menus and making reservations, view spa treatments, plan activities and check their onboard account balance.
HAL expects the chat function, which allows guests to communicate for free throughout the ship, to be the most popular feature.
Guest can set up notification alerts to be reminded of booked reservations and other messages.
"The Navigator app makes it easy for our guests to personalize their cruise experience from anywhere on the ship. The most exciting function of Navigator is that it allows our guests to chat with each other for free, which makes it easy to stay connected and make plans with fellow travelers," said HAL president Orlando Ashford.
It can be downloaded ahead of departure or onboard the ship for free without an internet package.
It is currently active only during the cruise but will be expanded with pre-cruise functionality for guests to better plan their cruise vacation and review amenities at any time before embarking.
