Homeworkers are experiencing a boom in bookings and commission despite the continuing recession, according to Travel Counsellors.
The company says business in February is up 48% worldwide on last year so far and 38% up in the UK. This follows a bountiful January when sales were up 28% worldwide and up 17% in the UK. In January it experienced its highest ever selling day.
It also reports sales from January until now for the winter lates season are up 17% year on year, with an average booking value up 2% in that timeframe. On average this has translated into a rise in the average income of Travel Counsellors by 23% in the UK.
Travel Counsellors Managing Director Steve Byrne said: "Our own dynamic packaging system Phenix has played a major part in enabling our Travel Counsellors to maintain healthy margins and protect their businesses through the economic climate.
“The average margin being achieved by agents in Phenix is an impressive 19-20%. We continue to invest in the system and have a host of exciting developments over the coming months, which will help to further support them and enable them earn more whilst offering their customers the widest choice of products at the most competitive prices.”
The group says it has also seen a big increase in passengers travelling to the Far East, Dubai and New York through its in-house luxury tour operation Suitcase.
