Travel Counsellors has announced plans further overseas expansion on the back of improved sales figures
The company ended its financial year to October 31 three per cent up, with overseas sales up by 64%, totalling £40 million, some 15% of total group sales.
It has 400 agents in Ireland, Holland, the US, South Africa, Australia and Canada, accounting for 35% of the company’s Travel Counsellors.
The company is now looking at master franchise partners in countries such as India, China and Scandinavia.
Travel Counsellors continues to report growing sales figures, with UK sales up 16% in the month of October and 25% up worldwide, plus 152 of the company’s agents had their best ever sales month.
The past week has seen sales up by 30%.
The company is also seeing more people now booking 2010 summer holidays, with sales in October up 30% for bookings to travel in May to August.
Managing director Steve Byrne will be attending World Travel Market next week to attend appointments to progress potential joint venture opportunities and welcomes interest from potential partners.
He said: “We have seen exceptional growth in our overseas operations and as we move into the new financial year we are positive about the year ahead.
“Taking the Travel Counsellors’ concept overseas has without doubt been a great success and we are now in a position with our Phenix dynamic packaging system to offer a global booking system in each market we operate in.
“We are now looking at further opportunities to drive the business forward, which is why I shall be attending WTM to progress these further.
“Currently our overseas expansion should add a further £100 million-plus in sales over the next two-three years and represent around 30%-plus of business.
“We hope to increase this further with these potential new ventures.”
