Hotel plan for London heliport
A luxury hotel will form part of redevelopment plans for London’s heliport in Battersea.
Helicopter charter company PremiAir has been awarded the exclusive contract to operate the heliport in a contract awarded by von Essen Hotels, which acquired the freehold site from Weston plc.
The deal includes a new luxury hotel development under construction adjacent to the heliport that will also house a new terminal, reception and business meeting rooms.
The 70-room boutique hotel is due to open on the site in summer 2009.
PremiAir managing director David McRobert said: “Following many years of uncertainty at Battersea, this move demonstrates that the new London Heliport owners are committed to maintaining this capability long term and we are proud to be associated with the operation of such an important aviation asset.”
Operations director Christopher Forrest added: “The new heliport terminal, reception area and hotel development is going to offer London Heliport customers world class business aviation facilities and services which, at long last, will match London’s status as a global business centre”.
