Hotels sign up for Asia’s new Funtasy Island
Asian hospitality chain Meritus Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement with Funtasy Island Development for the management of a resort development comprising a 200-room condotel, a 230-suite hotel, and more than 400 villas on Indonesia’s Riau Islands.
Funtasy Island, due to open 2014, is planned to be the largest eco theme park and the first gated island community in the world.
Around 12 miles off the coast of Singapore, Funtasy Island will include retail, convention, dining and recreational facilities, over 810 acres of tropical islands situated between Batam and Singapore.
It will be accessible via a yacht or ferry ride from Singapore’s Harbourfront ferry terminal.
