HRG UK wins major government account
HRG UK has won the business travel contract for the Ministry of Defence and Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
The MOD and FCO combined have one of the largest single travel management accounts in the UK, and possibly in Europe, according to HRG. No value was disclosed.
The three-year contract, with an option to extend for a further year, will start at the end of 2007 with a phased implementation.
HRG will service the account from a small number of specialist centres across the country, providing a range of solutions including online self-booking tools.
Hogg Robinson Group chief executive David Radcliffe said:, said: “We look forward to working with the team at the MOD who have not only proved to be very knowledgeable but also extremely enthusiastic.
“We have a great opportunity to help them streamline, enhance and optimise the travel practices of two such important organisations as the MOD and FCO.
“Although the negotiation and tender period was lengthy because of the need to comply with the Government’s rules of engagement, we believe the rigorous process will form the basis for a sound future relationship.
“The nature of the MOD’s business, which will be serviced with a mixture of technology-led solutions and expert personal service delivery, will make this an exciting account which we know our consultants will enjoy working on.”
Meanwhile, Business Travel Direct has clinched the business travel contract for NATS – formerly National Air Traffic Services.
Business Travel Direct will initially provide a travel desk service booking mainly domestic travel for more than 5,000 NATS staff based at 50 locations throughout the UK.
Plans are in place to replace the travel desk with a booking portal allowing staff to self-book all travel elements.
