ICE recruits in London as Cork and Kettering offices close
International Cruise and Excursions (ICE) is recruiting in London for staff for its Stanmore call centre as it closes two other call centres.
The US-based company has decided to close call centres in Cork and Kettering by the end of the year and consolidate its call centre staff in Stanmore after a review of its European operations.
Senior vice president Warren Joy is to stay on to oversee the changes and is then leaving the business at the end of this year.
He said around 25 staff in Kettering and around 50 in Cork have entered a period of consultation, but admitted it was unlikely any of them would relocate.
"We’ve offered some new roles to staff at Kettering and a relocation package, but Kettering is around two hours from Stanmore so I’m not really expecting anyone to make the move," he said.
"We’re looking at placing recruitment ads in London for call centre and support staff at Stanmore and are looking to fill that centre by the middle of next year."
The Stanmore call centre, acquired when ICE bought Voyana Cruises, is large enough to house 200 staff, but only has 30 staff there at the moment.
The company’s inbound operations will be outsourced to Travel Solutions Group.
Joy said his decision to leave the company was not connected to the consolidation.
"I joined from Amex two years ago to help grow the company and envisaged that I’d be here for four or five years, but we’ve come a long way in a short time, so it’s time to move on," he said.
