Icelandair will become Southwest Airlines first official airline partner.

In a bid to boost connectivity beyond its transatlantic network, Icelandair inked a Memorandum of Understanding with Southwest Airlines.

The bilateral partnership is expected to begin in 2025.

The partnership will allow customers to easily connect between the two airlines’ networks.

Icelandair will become Southwest’s initial airline partner.

This will help extend Icelandair’s market reach.

Icelandair’s route network currently consists of 34 destinations in Europe and 17 in North America, including Baltimore-Washington, the initial North American gateway between Icelandair and Southwest Airlines.

Bogi Nils Bogason, Icelandair President and CEO: “We are very excited to add Southwest to our partnership portfolio and are honored to be chosen as their initial airline partner.”

“The partnership will unlock many exciting travel options for our customers, and our extensive network in Europe will open up for Southwest customers.”

Ryan Green, Southwest EVP, Commercial Transformation: “Icelandair will become our initial partner, enabling Southwest to further our global reach beyond the nearly 120 destinations we serve in North America.”
