InterContinental Hotels Group’s US based boutique brand Kimpton Hotels will undergo a big expansion globally over the next few years.
IHG acquired Kimpton in 2015 and has slowly rolled out new hotel locations overseas including its first Caribbean resort and hotels in the UK and the Netherlands.
It plans to expand with more than 25 Kimpton Hotels properties across 20 new destinations globally including Mexico City, Paris, Barcelona, and Shanghai, within the next three to five years.
"We have flagship hotels now open in London and Amsterdam, a series of fantastic hotels slated to open this year including our first in Asia, and a growing pipeline of projects in key markets," said Elie Maalouf, IHG’s Americas CEO.
Upcoming openings include Taipei, Taiwan and Edinburgh, Scotland this spring, and the second Kimpton in the Caribbean – Kimpton Kawana Bay Resort Grenada, which is scheduled to open in early 2020.
Also slated for a 2020 opening is Kimpton Bali, a resort of 50 luxury villas in the Nusa Dua tourist enclave.
IHG’s boutique portfolio, including the Hotel Indigo brand, comprises nearly 120 more hotels in the development pipeline.
