Intercontinental Hotels Group has announced plans for its fifth Holiday Inn Express in Australia.
A franchise agreement has been signed with Pro-invest Group for a 170-room property in the commercial district of Newcastle.
Scheduled to open in 2018, it follows the brand debut in Sydney earlier this year and upcoming openings for Holiday Inn Express in Brisbane, Adelaide and Melbourne over the next 18 months.
"Holiday inn Express is one of the fastest growing brands in the world because it satisfies the basic needs whilst providing a level of service that the modern day traveller has come to expect," said Karin Sheppard, IHG chief operations officer for Australasia and Japan.
The brand is also arriving in New Zealand with the first property opening in Queenstown later this year, followed by a 120-room Holiday Inn Express hotel in Christchurch, which is due to open in 2018.
