Imbardelli back for new challenge
SINGAPORE – Patrick Imbardelli has returned to hotel management with little fanfare after his sudden departure from InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) in June last year.
He has been appointed president and CEO of HPL’s Plaza Ltd.
He succeeds Gwee Lian Kheng who has held the position since 1995. Gwee will take on the position of group chief executive. Gwee will remain as chairman of the Parkroyal and Pan Pacific group of companies.
Imbardelli resigned from his position as IHG chief executive, Asia Pacific region, following an internal review of the academic qualifications he previously presented to the company.
He worked with Gwee during his time with Intercontinental – when InterContinental had the Parkroyal group, which was then under SPHC.
Imbardelli will be responsible for day-to-day management and operations, particularly the management and expansion of HPL’s hotels and businesses, including the Parkroyal chain.
He will also supervise the Pan Pacific hotel management arm, which is currently owned by HPL’s parent company, UOL Group Limited.
Imbardelli had a one-year agreement with IHG not to work in hotel management following his controversial departure last year.
