Increased airlift hailed by BTA

American Airlines is beefing up flight frequencies to Bermuda with double daily service from New York six days a week.
The expanded schedule will begin February 11, 2016, and has been welcome by the Bermuda Tourism Authority.
"This additional air service signals the growing confidence in Bermuda as a year-round destination," BTA EO Bill Hanbury.
"American’s addition of six flights per week increases Bermuda’s total weekly flights from North America by 13%."
Hanbury said the agency has been working hard to attract more airlift after losing 21,000 seats in air capacity last winter.
BTA officials have held several meetings with business and tourism stakeholders and earlier this month met with American Airlines, JetBlue and British Airways.
"We have tried to reach out to all the airlines to see how we can boost capacity not just in the US and Canada, but also the UK. We have spoken with Virgin and Thomas Cook and also held meetings with British Airways about the quality and affordability of service. We have had a very positive response so far."
