India airlines have best ever month for passenger traffic
India aviation just had a banner month in November, with the best ever traffic figures for three major airlines.
Regulator the Directorate General of Civil Aviation just released passenger traffic numbers for November with largest carrier IndiGo notching a major milestone.
IndiGo became the first airline to carry 10 million passengers in a single month.
It is likely to beat that this month.
It also saw IndiGo reach its highest ever share of the India market at 63.6%.
Biggest rival Air India has a market share of just 24.4% but it also posted a passenger traffic record in November
It is also likely to beat November’s record this month as Vistara merged into Air India in early December.
It also wholly owns Air India Express.
Mumbai based Akasa Air also had its best ever month.
Combined, November 2024 was the best-ever traffic total for domestic Indian aviation in history.
