India charters help Somak cut package prices
The launch of charter flights to India will mean a dramatic cut in the cost of holidays to India, claims Somak Holidays.
The operator has contracted seats on the first Manchester to Dehli direct charter service by Excel Airways which starts on 7 November.
Somak, which is evaluating charter flights to other cities such as Mumbai and Bangalore, can now offer holidays to India for less than £600.
The inroduction of the flights follows a relaxation of of rules governing charter flights by the Indian government.
Somak CEO Ash Softa said: “It emasnw e have been able to greatly reduce the price of holidays. For example, the classic Golden Triangle tour encompassing the cities ofDelhi, Agra and Jaipur will now cost as little as £569 for seven nights on a B&B basis.”
He added: “If the the Dehli flight proves a success and demand for the north India cricuit increases, we also will consider adding a second weekly departure from Manchester.”
He estimated that the new flight – offering in a three-class configuration – will take Somak to around 25,000 passengers a year.
“We anticipate that, very soon, Somak will become the UK’s laesding operator to India,” added Mr Sofat.
