India’s GoAir to launch Singapore flights
Indian budget carrier GoAir is adding Singapore flights from Bengaluru and Kolkata this month.
Starting October 18, GoAir will fly four times in a week to Singapore from Bengaluru and thrice weekly starting the following day from Kolkata.
According to managing director Jeh Wadia, GoAir will work closely with the Singapore Tourism Board to help promote the routes.
"The introduction of flights to and from Singapore is a turning point in the history of GoAir. Singapore carries the distinction of being an important leisure destination as well as an established business hub," Wadia said.
India is Singapore’s third largest source market, said GB Srithar, STB’s India, Middle East and South Asia regional director.
There are currently flights to Singapore from 15 cities in India.
Last year was the fourth in succession the Lion City received more than one million Indian visitors.
GoAir also announced a new domestic route linking Guwahati with Aizawl.
The airline flies to 25 domestic destinations and eight overseas cities.
