The Indonesian tourism ministry is taking a new approach to lure more tourists from China – by opening its own ‘Wonderful Indonesia’ branded restaurant.
The restaurant, showcasing signature regional dishes from around the world’s largest archipelago will open in the city of Hefei, Anhui Province next month, according to Antara News.
It will be part of the upcoming ‘Wonderful Indonesia’ culinary tourism campaign in international markets and will feature about 30 Indonesian dishes and drinks.
These include Sumatran beef rending, nasi goreng fried rice, satay and soto ayam chicken soup.
It will promote both the food of Indonesia and the ‘Wonderful Indonesia’ brand itself, said I Gde Pitana, deputy of international tourism marketing at the ministry.
If it proves a success, the ministry may open restaurants in other key markets, it said.
