Infected American Airlines flight attendant dies
American Airlines has confirmed a long serving flight attendant has died after contracting the covid-19 virus.
Paul Frishkorn, 65, was based at Philadelphia and was a union representative for the Association of Professional Flight Attendants.
"Our hearts go out to Paul’s family and friends, many of whom work for American," the airline said.
"We are working directly with Paul’s family to ensure they are cared for."
"Flight attendants are very much on edge right now because social distancing is so difficult in the close quarters of an airplane cabin," said Tracy Sear, an American flight attendant and coleague of Frishkorn.
"They’re right there exposed on the front lines. They’re scared of getting sick and carrying the virus to their families," said union president, Lori Bassani.
Earlier this week Carlos Consuegra, a United Airlines ramp service employee, died after becoming infected.
