Inflight meals banned on short flights in India
India has ordered all airlines to halt in-flight catering on some domestic flights as part of measures to curb rising cases of Covid. The country is experiencing a worrying second wave of infections.
The Indian Council of Medical Research flagged the removal of masks to eat in-flight meals as a danger that can be avoided. The Indian government said it will ban all catering on flights of less than two hours’ duration.
For longer flights, meal service will be staggered so that not everyone on the flight needs to remove their face mask at the same time.
The government order also stated: "In all classes, tray cutlery will be completely disposable… beverages should be served in disposable containers and glass and the crew should wear a fresh set of gloves for every meal/beverage service"
