Inghams banks on ‘passionate skiers’ to beat cost challenges
Inghams Travel is banking on the passion of skiers not to miss their winter break despite the credit crunch.
The operator has released its Ski & Snowboard 2008-09 brochure covering more than 90 destinations in 14 countries with 23 Uk airport departures.
Inghams admitted the outlook for the forthcoming winter was “challengingâ€.
“The declining exchange rate of sterling against the euro and Swiss franc, increase in aviation fuel affecting the cost of air travel and increase in local resort utility costs are all having an impact on holiday costs,†the company said.
“Despite this bookings for Austria, France and Switzerland are well up and with the improved range of destinations in the new 326 page brochure, skiers have a longer season to enjoy with a later Easter in April next year.â€
A week’s ski holiday lead-in at £250 per person, based on six sharing a three-room villa at the Malina Village in the resort of Borovets in Bulgaria, on a self catering basis
The company’s chief executive Litsa Constantinou said: “We believe that exceptional snow records together with the strength of the dollar against the pound, America and Canada will continue to be popular next season.
“In Europe early signs are that demand is for high resorts and quality accommodation so we remain optimistic for another buoyant winter season.
“Skiers are passionate about their winter holidays and as in previous seasons, they will continue to head to the slopes.â€
