InteleTravel sales holding up despite Russia – Ukraine conflict
Homeworking firm InteleTravel says sales have remained strong in the two weeks since Russia invaded Ukraine.
Sales have kept pace with 2021 despite concerns over consumer confidence and spending.
In the period from February 24 to March 10, InteleTravel sold £2.5m of holidays, up 61% on the comparable period in 2019, before lockdown, and on par with the same period in 2021.
Holidaymakers remain determined to travel, despite uncertainty in Europe and rising fuel prices.
Typical top destinations include Dubai, the Maldives, the US and the Caribbean, for 2022 and 2023.
In the first two months of the year, InteleTravel sold over £11m worth of holidays and enjoyed its best-ever sales month in the UK in January.
InteleTravel UK director Tricia Handley-Hughes said: “The situation in Ukraine is tragic and people are naturally concerned about what is going on and the impact on them. But our feedback and bookings figures show that people will not be deterred from having a holiday.”
This may change, but for now we are enjoying the extended peak sales period.”
InteleTravel has grown rapidly over the past two years and currently has 10,500 agents.
The agency recently gained its Air Travel Organiser’s Licence allowing agents to create and sell packages.
The success has also been mirrored in the US, where InteleTravel has been established for over 30 years, with business up 35% compared with 2019.
