International cruises from Singapore could resume this year

The Singapore Tourism Board says international cruises departing Singapore may set sail again this year.
It would likely kick off with short sailings within ASEAN such as Malaysia and Thailand.
Jeannie Lim, assistant chief executive of policy and planning group, said talks are taking place with other nations ‘to harmonise cruise safe standards, so that at least there is agreement on what are the safety protocols and processes that we will follow.’
"This will take some time. But we do hope to be able to restart some ports of calls hopefully later this year," she said.
Cruising restarted in late 2020 but only for short ‘cruises to nowhere.’
More than 400,000 domestic passengers have sailed so far.
Royal Caribbean is one of the two lines that sail from Singapore.
It has already announced it plans to sail to Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam from Singapore in late-2022.
