Irish Ferries revamps UK management structure
Irish Ferries UK passenger manager Daragh O’Reilly is returning to Dublin to head marketing of both UK-Ireland and Ireland-France routes and the company’s website.
Declan Mescall, previously responsible for sales in Ireland and for continental markets, takes on an expanded role as head of passenger sales, with additional responsibility for the UK market.
Marie McCarthy takes a new role of UK passenger sales manager, adding retail sales to her existing responsibilities for tour operator and wholesale relationships.
The revamp is designed to support the ferry company’s position as the low fares alternative to flying to Ireland.
O’Reilly said: “We have been very successful in re-positioning Irish Ferries as the low fares alternative to flying. Ferry sales are increasingly made online – both by agents and consumers.
“The new structure is a necessary development in supporting our forward-looking marketing strategy and it will help us deliver a co-ordinated service to all customers, both trade and direct.”
Mescall added: “Irish Ferries is in an ideal position to capitalise on the backlash against airport hassles and flight delays. And with our lowest-ever fares, we are confident that increasing numbers of leisure travellers will turn their backs on flying in favour of taking their car to Ireland.”
McCarthy said: “Agents already have access to our lowest fares – fully commissionable – at www.irishferries.com as well as the best inclusive holiday programme to Ireland. We encourage all agents to use www.irishferries.com as a one-stop shop for all their travel requirements to Ireland.”
