Is this the world’s most expensive golf tour?
A golf tour that can lay claim to being the world’s most expensive will launch in New Zealand in March.
The Tiger Tour is an 8-night/9-day tour of the New Zealand luxury resorts owned by US hedge fund guru Julian Robertson.
In 1980, Robertson started Tiger Management Corp, also known as The Tiger Fund, with US$8 million in capital. By 1998, its holdings had climbed to $22 billion.
Retailing at $NZ33,350 per couple (airfares to New Zealand extra), the itinerary includes golf at Cape Kidnappers and Kauri Cliffs – the two highest-ranked resort courses in the Asia-Pacific region – cuisine, helicopter tours, horseback riding, fly fishing, ocean sailing, and winery tours.
Accommodation is provided at The Farm at Cape Kidnappers, The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs in the Bay of Islands and Matakauri Lodge in Queenstown, South Island.
Ryan Brandeburg, director of golf at both Cape Kidnappers and Kauri Cliffs said,

”There’s no doubt it’s expensive. It may well be the most expensive golfing holiday on offer anywhere in the world.
“But as with The Tiger Fund, it’s about delivering an optimum return on investment.â€â€¨
