Japan Airlines Co. will reassign around 3,000 employees to its low-cost carrier subsidiary and other business units as international travel struggles to recover.

International and business travel demand remains week but domestic is back to about 90% of pre-pandemic levels.

Staff will transfer to budget airline Zipair and Jalux Inc, which handles the loyalty program business, according to sources.

JAL expects demand for international flights throughout FY 2022 to remain below 50% of pre-pandemic levels.
