The Jamaica Tourist Board has appointed Paul Pennicook as new director of tourism.

He replaces John Lynch who resigned in May after six years at the helm.

Pennicook previously held the same position at JTB from 2003 to 2006 and also served as the first vice president of the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association.

Other travel industry roles include as executive vice president at Sandals Resorts and president and chief executive officer of Couples Resorts.

Following his first stint as director at JTB Pennicook was senior vice president of sales and marketing for Air Jamaica.

"Paul was selected for his highly accomplished, well-rounded experience as hotelier, airline executive and tourism director," said JTB chairman Dennis Morrison.

He was also welcomed back by Wykeham McNeil, Jamaica’s minister of tourism and entertainment, who said: "as we meet the challenges of modernizing the operations of the board and deepening the partnerships with industry players, I am confident that the JTB has found the right man for the job."
