Jamaica celebrates record-breaking UK visitation
Tourist arrivals from the UK are again at record-breaking highs, the Jamaica Tourist Board has revealed.
Numbers for January-June 2024 mark a significant 14% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
It makes Jamaica the Caribbean’s top choice destination for UK travellers again, it says.
“The growing number of UK tourists arriving in Jamaica is a pivotal moment, highlighting the strength of our brand,” said Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett.
“We are focused on building upon this momentum by continuously improving our infrastructure and experiences.”
With new direct flights, 2025 is set to further increase Jamaica’s tourism profile, the JTB says.
Donovan White, Jamaica’s Director of Tourism, added: “These record-breaking figures highlight Jamaica’s enduring popularity among UK travellers.”
During World Travel Market in London, the Minister of Tourism Bartlett welcomed the announcement of Virgin Atlantic’s nonstop flight service between London Heathrow Airport and Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay starting in summer 2025.
The nonstop route provides direct connectivity between the UK and Jamaica’s tourism capital.
“This is an exciting development for Jamaica’s tourism industry which will make it even more seamless to get to the island” said Bartlett.
“Securing this nonstop flight will substantially boost airlift and access to our destination.”
Visit Jamaica has praised its partners and stakeholders for their continued support.
“We look forward to another outstanding year,” Bartlett added.
