Japan mulling vaccine passports for international travel
Japan plans to implement its own vaccine passport scheme to enable people to travel internationally. According to reports, it is unlikely to be used domestically. It will be a QR code based app and Taro Kono, the minister in charge of the country’s vaccination program, says the country needs to develop one otherwise it could be left behind when international borders reopen.
The app would be linked to the Vaccination Record System, which records data of all people who have received the jab.
It will likely be based on the CommonPass digital health app.
